Handbuildling & Raku

October 19th 2-5pm & October 27th 4-7pm

Whether you’re an experienced potter or new to ceramics, raku is an exciting way to add some heat to a rainy, gray season. The most dramatic of all firing processes, raku is a gas-powered, outdoor firing that yields some of the most dazzling lusters and surface textures in ceramics.

In this two part course, you’ll have the opportunity to build and fire your own unique piece.

Week 1 consists of handbuilding a sculptural piece.

Week 2 you’ll glaze your piece, take part in the firing process, and take your masterpiece home with you.

Break all the rules that you’ve learned about ceramics and see what magic can happen!

Details:

Skill Level: No ceramics experience required. Experienced potters are encouraged to join but should keep in mind that this is a beginner level raku class. Opportunities for intermediate and advanced raku techniques will be offered in the future.

What to wear: Dress in layers, closed-toed shoes, and wear non-flammable materials (jean, canvas, boots, etc.).

Accommodations: If you require any accommodations for this course please reach our to wildlingmanagement@gmail.com so we can help make this class accessible for you.
