The class is designed for intermediate or advanced beginners looking to improve their skills and bring a centered mindful approach to their practice. This class combines the mental benefits of meditation and the creative experience of wheel throwing to provide a unique and rewarding experience. Participants will start with a guided meditation session to help them focus their minds and reduce stress. Meditation is a great way to cultivate mindfulness, improve mental clarity, and reduce anxiety. With a centered self, participants can then center clay and learn the pottery-making technique create their own bowls, cups, and vases. Wheel throwing is a great way to practice patience, concentration, and skill which is a great addition to a meditation practice.
About the instructor: Mariah has been working with clay for over 17 years. She received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Studio Ceramics from the University of North Texas and a Masters of Arts in Art Education from Sul Ross State University. She has been a clay apprentice, intern, resident artist and technician over the years. More recently she received her 200HR Registered Yoga Instructor certification, a Breath work Coach Certification and is a Licensed Massage Therapist. She is excited to start interweaving her passions and sharing them with others.
