Basket Weaving: Asymmetrical Willow Basket with Handle

July 6th & 7th 10am-4pm (with a break for lunch)

$150 tuition & $65 Material Fee

Come join us for a full weekend of willow basketry! This project is suitable for those brand new to basketry as well as those who have taken classes before. In this class, students will learn how to weave a round basket with sides, unique angled asymmetrical top edge, and wood handle.  Techniques employed include pairing, reverse pairing, waling, French randing, plain randing, and handle attachment.

Instructors Ben Goodwin and Eli Goodwin spend their time growing willow, creating functional and decorative baskets, and sharing their knowledge through workshops. This team of brothers have been helping beginning basket-makers learn the craft throughout the Willamette Valley and beyond. The class will be using willow grown and harvested sustainably in the Oregon Coast Range by Ben and Eli themselves.

Participants are asked to bring pruners and a sharp knife. If you do not have these, let us know and we can provide them.
Participants should also bring a lunch to eat at the mid-day break time.

We allowed for a generous time cushion, this class could end earlier depending on your speed of weaving.

***Please Note: We have to reach a minimum of 8 participants for this class. If the minimum is not met we will need to cancel and you will receive a full refund.***
