Due to the flow and pacing of class, it's very difficult to catch-up folks who\u003c\/b\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p2\"\u003e\u003cb\u003earrive more than a few minutes late.\u003c\/b\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p2\"\u003e\u003cb\u003eClass Description:\u003c\/b\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p2\"\u003eThis introductory stained glass class will teach you all of the basics of the\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p2\"\u003eTiffany\/Copper-Foil technique of stained glass from start to finish, and you’ll go home\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p2\"\u003ewith a finished stained glass piece of your own! No prior stained glass experience is\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p2\"\u003enecessary. For this course, designs will be provided, though we will discuss a few\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p2\"\u003edesign basics. Students will get to explore the magical colors and textures of stained\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p2\"\u003eglass by picking out their own sheet glass to use for their project. You will learn how to\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p2\"\u003escore, cut, and break glass, how to grind the glass to get the pieces to fit smoothly\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p2\"\u003eagainst each other, and how to apply copper foil tape. Lastly, you will learn how to\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p2\"\u003esolder your piece and clean it so that you can go home with a beautiful finished piece of\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p2\"\u003eyour own! The course will cover how to use and maintain the various tools necessary for\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p2\"\u003estained glass, and we will also discuss various safety and protective measures that\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p2\"\u003eshould be taken throughout the stained glass process.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p2\"\u003e\u003cb\u003eTeacher Bio:\u003c\/b\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p2\"\u003eMy name is Maddie and I am the one-woman show behind Optic Mojo Glassworks, my\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p2\"\u003estained glass studio and business. I am an East Coast native from Baltimore, Maryland\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p2\"\u003eand I moved to Oregon in 2020 for grad school and have lived here ever since. I picked\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p2\"\u003eup stained glass thanks to my parents, who were hobbyists before I was born. My dad\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p2\"\u003etaught me stained glass in 2019, and since then I’ve made hundreds of pieces ranging\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p2\"\u003efrom smaller ornament-sized pieces, to medium-sized suncatchers, to some larger one\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p2\"\u003eto two-foot panels. Currently, I work out of my home studio and I’m drawn to a wide\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p2\"\u003erange of subject matter from the abstract and geometric, to fun critters and\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p2\"\u003enature-based concepts. I highly value sustainability and frequently incorporate\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p2\"\u003esustainable practices into my work. When I’m not at my day-job or in the studio, you can\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p2\"\u003efind me gardening, hanging out with my dog, cooking, or playing the piano. We host workshops and classes in our large classroom space as well as offer private studio for local small businesses in Eugene. Mystic Fables Leather runs their leather making business in one of our private rental studios, along with other local Eugene artists. We have recently opened up our gallery space to host the works of local Eugene artists.
