Design\u003cbr\u003eyour own small to medium-sized suncatcher with around 20 pieces of glass and take\u003cbr\u003ehome a finished stained glass piece that you designed yourself! While it is expected that\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003estudents in this class will have a basic understanding of the stained glass process, we\u003cbr\u003ewill review the entirety of the Tiffany\/Copper-Foil method of stained glass from start to\u003cbr\u003efinish, covering how to use and maintain the various tools necessary for stained glass,\u003cbr\u003ewhile discussing safety and protective measures that should be taken throughout the\u003cbr\u003estained glass process. Students will get to explore the magical colors and textures of\u003cbr\u003estained glass by picking out their own sheet glass to use for their project. We will review\u003cbr\u003ehow to score, cut, and break glass, how to grind the glass pieces to fit smoothly against\u003cbr\u003eeach other, and how to apply copper foil tape. Lastly, we will review how to solder your\u003cbr\u003epiece, clean it, apply patina, and polish it, so that you can go home with a beautiful\u003cbr\u003efinished piece of your own design!\u003cbr\u003eNEW! I am an East Coast native from Baltimore, Maryland\u003cbr\u003eand I moved to Oregon in 2020 for grad school and have lived here ever since. I picked\u003cbr\u003eup stained glass thanks to my parents, who were hobbyists before I was born. My dad\u003cbr\u003etaught me stained glass in 2019, and since then I’ve made hundreds of pieces ranging\u003cbr\u003efrom smaller ornament-sized pieces, to medium-sized suncatchers, to some larger one\u003cbr\u003eto two-foot panels. Currently, I work out of my home studio and I’m drawn to a wide\u003cbr\u003erange of subject matter from the abstract and geometric, to fun critters and\u003cbr\u003enature-based concepts. I highly value sustainability and frequently incorporate\u003cbr\u003esustainable practices into my work. When I’m not at my day-job or in the studio, you can\u003cbr\u003efind me gardening, hanging out with my dog, cooking, or playing the piano. We offer a  membership ceramics studio which is the only 24\/7 ceramics studio in Eugene. Wildling was found by local Eugene Artists with the intention of creating a community space that is accessible and inclusive. Wildling provides a living wage to all of their employees, giving local artist a dependable salary so they can support their families and the local economy.
